Early in the morning we´ll head to “Matadero Solís”, to visit the plant located on Route Nº 8, km 87, in the town named “Solís de Mataojo”, Department of Lavalleja.
“Matadero Solís” is a slaughter and deboning plant for cattle and sheep, designed and equipped with cutting-edge technology in order to meet the requirements of the most demanding markets.
It began operations on April 18th, 1995 and at present slaughters 60 cattle head per hour and has more than 300 employees. It has chilling chambers with a capacity of 450 cattle a day, deboning room with a capacity of 120 quarters per hour.
On site, we will be able to see these processes as well as end products, for both domestic and foreign markets.
We’ll then have lunch and in the afternoon we´ll visit Macromercado and Devoto retailers.
“Macromercado Mayorista” is one of the leading supermarket chains in Uruguay. The history of Macromercado began in 1922 with a grocery store, then in 1990 it opened a 8.088-m2 store thus offering a new manner of “large scale” shopping, and nowadays it has 7 points of sale: 5 in Montevideo, 1 in Punta del Este and another one in Rivera.
Devoto Hnos. is one of the biggest Uruguayan supermarkets and hypermarkets chains, belonging to “Grupo Éxito”, and has over 25 stores in Montevideo, Canelones and Maldonado. The chain aims at offering high-quality products to obtain customer loyalty.
